Social Media Experience

@theeverygirl

Because the TEG staff is pretty small, I get to dip my toes into some of the social media and marketing aspects of the company as an Editorial Assistant. Here you will see various Instagram Stories and Facebook posts I've made for the brands handles. Our Instagram page has over 825K followers, and our Facebook page has over 141K. Through working here, I have learned a lot about what it takes to post and schedule content for a brand with so much engagement.

POST ENGAGEMENT

Throughout my nine months at The Everygirl, I've written a lot of amazing, thought-provoking pieces (if I do say so myself). These posts have continuously been created into quote graphics to post on our Instagram to promote the posts. Here are just a few of my favorites and a look at the likes and comments these posts received. (Not included: the amazing DMs and e-mails these quotes and articles have prompted people to send to me. I love what I do so, so much.)

After a very difficult and testing 2018, I wrote this piece to discuss how I came out of a depressive episode and found myself, particularly in my career. This is a quote I felt so passionately about when I wrote the piece, so I was enthralled to see it in a graphic! This graphic became one of the most-liked posts of the week, and the story was a top-viewed post as well. It garnered a lot of "YAS GIRL" comments and DMs. (Which was amazing, let me tell you.)
A friend asked if I could write a piece about this because she was really struggling with finding value outside of Instagram. (Something I think so many of us can relate to) However, I didn't realize just how relatable this was until we published the piece. I was taken aback by how many likes adn comments this article received. There were over 550 comments, many of which included people tagging their friends or stating which of the five were their favorites. This Instagram post brought tons of people to the site, making this a top-performing article that week.

I am incredibly passionate about believing survivors of sexual violence. So, when Dr. Christine Blasey Ford decided to speak in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I knew I had to write about it. At the time, I was only an intern, and I was just about to clock out for the day. I asked my Editorial Director if I could write the piece, and she and one of our cofounders gave me the go-ahead. I spent the next evening and early morning researching, conceptualizing, and writing the piece. The article went live shortly after, and I was enthralled by the discourse this piece started, particularly on Instagram. I received many DMs and e-mails of people who resonated with the piece or appreciated that TEG was taking a stand in a bipartisan way. To this day, this is one of my favorite articles I've written. (And to think I thought it up and wrote it in less than 12 hours!)
